Who has the keys for your property?

We often refer to our homes as our castles. Back in medieval times castles were surrounded by moats to keep the undesirables out. Today we use various types of locks on our windows and doors to keep unwanted guests out of our homes.

The most overlooked area of security when we purchase a new home is who already has a key for the property. Your new next door neighbour? The previous owners relatives, best friend? The Estate Agent?

Most burglaries happen through the day when nobody is at home. What could be easier than using the house keys to gain access?

We recommend that you organise to have all the external locks changed on your new property as soon as you move in.

The links below are to the National Network of Approved Locksmiths and the Master Locksmiths Association webistes. Both these organisations have a section on their websites which will enable you to find approved Locksmiths in your area and offer help and advice.
